After five seasons, two Daytime Emmy awards and too many girl-power episodes to count, Tyra Banks is announcing the end of The Tyra Show. “This will be the last season of The Tyra Show,” Banks tells PEOPLE exclusively. “I’ve been loving having fun, coming into your living rooms, bedrooms, hair salons for the past 5 years.”
Wrapping at the end of its fifth season in the spring of 2010, it will be lights out for the show that brought viewers memorable weave-exposing, cellulite-revealing and tear-jerking moments.
Banks will focus on the launch of Bankable Studios, a N.Y.-based film production company currently reviewing possible projects. A progression of structure and color swept through the Chanel Fall couture runway for the Fall 2009 Couture collection. Beginning on a classic note, Karl Lagerfield sent tailored skirt suits hushed in grey, brown, and navy hues to set the simple opulence synonymous with the Chanel brand. The dress and coat ensembles may have been stream-lined but jeweled embellishments and graphic patterns brought a fresh breath to the classic looks. "Renegade," by journalist Richard Wolffe, says the couple's marriage was strained by Barack Obama's unsuccessful 2000 run for Congress. Okay I know we all love our Obama's but I'm sorry is this really any of our business; I mean who cares about their love life ....and I should also make a point to say that they only made it clear that the "Obama's " are not super hero's and that their marriage has problems like any marriage. In alot of ways this is sooo not news however, it serves the point that they are only human....just like you and me!

April 15th, 2009 Deadline
The tax deadline is HERE and I’m sure many of you who were scheduled to receive a refund have already filed and even cashed your refund check. But for those of you that owe money this year, the looming deadline isn’t going away. So if the tax filing deadline is April15th what does that really mean for filing and submitting your return and/or payment?

The Postmark Date
The good news is that a tax return delivered to the IRS by U.S. mail after the due date for the tax return is considered timely filed if the tax return was postmarked on or before the due date of the tax return. This is good news because that means you don’t have to submit your filing and payment a week in advance just to be sure it is in their hands by the deadline. So if you want, you can actually wait until the 15th to get everything in the mail provided the postmark on the envelope shows the 15th. While you can wait until the very last day to do so, I would recommend still mailing a day or two early just to be safe in the event of something coming up that doesn’t permit you to get to the post office or meet the last postal pickup for that day in order to get that day’s postmark.

What About Extensions?
If you filed an extension, you are not off the hook. This extension is simply for filing the paperwork, not the tax payments you owe. If you have waited this long and still don’t know roughly how much you will owe I urge you to find out as soon as possible. You will still need to have your payment, or at least an estimated payment postmarked by the 15th in order to be considered as on time even if you have filed an extension or plan to file one.
The extension will at least prevent you from receiving a late filing penalty on your paperwork but interest will be charged on unpaid tax from the original due date of the tax return. So it is important to send at least an estimated payment before the deadline even if you have filed for an extension so you can avoid as much interest as possible.
In addition to interest, there is an issue with late payment penalties as well. This means it is very important to know fairly close to how much your payment will be. The IRS will not impose a late payment penalty so long as the estimated payment you send is at least 90% of the actual payment you owe and that the remainder of the payment is submitted before the end of the extension deadline. So, if you expect your tax payment to be around $1,000 don’t send them a check for $200 as an estimated payment while you continue to work on your return in the extension period.

New Jersey officials have proposed a ban on "Brazilian" bikini waxes, claiming the extreme grooming risky as well as risqué.

Two women were recently hospitalized for infections stemming from no-follicle-left-behind procedure, and one of them has filed a lawsuit, according to Jeff Lamm, a spokesman for New Jersey's Division of Consumer Affairs, which oversees the cosmetology board.
But New Jersey spa owners say officials have no business legislating what women do with their Pine Barrens."Our customers have never had any problems - all this is going to do is send our customers across the river to New York," said Kathleen Ho, owner of the Spa at Port Liberte in Jersey City.
Brazilians account for 85 percent of all bikini waxes, said Rita Gitelman, owner of La Femme in Hoboken."We've never had a single complaint," she said. "Our clients are extremely upset."
Technically, genital waxing has never been allowed only the face, neck, abdomen, legs and arms are permitted but because bare-it-all "Brazilians" weren't specifically banned, state regulators haven't enforced the law.

Officials with the National Cosmetology Association and National-Interstate Council of State Boards of Cosmetology said they were unaware of another state that has banned genital waxing.

I hate to get involved with political things, However this one is hurting me .This (my body/my look) does not pull its self together...I need manicures, pedicures, hair salons and yes Helga the hot waxer @ my spa. its not fun to be down there every 3-6 days grooming the little errant hairs that creep back as soon as you turn your head, and long gone are the days where I'm shaving in the shower every morning...yuck ans who has the time . I'm a married woman! there is no time to be sore or for razor bumps, not for me not in 2009. So thanks New Jersey once again for making another reason why we cant keep money in this state, I guess I will be making the voyage to or sister city of New York to receive my spotless Brazilians.

In hard times, tent cities rise across the country
Since foreclosure mess, homeless advocates report rise in encampments

Homeless encampments are springing up around the country, including this one next to the homeless shelter in downtown Reno, Nev.

RENO, Nev. - A few tents cropped up hard by the railroad tracks, pitched by men left with nowhere to go once the emergency winter shelter closed for the summer.
Then others appeared — people who had lost their jobs to the ailing economy, or newcomers who had moved to Reno for work and discovered no one was hiring.
Within weeks, more than 150 people were living in tents big and small, barely a foot apart in a patch of dirt slated to be a parking lot for a campus of shelters Reno is building for its homeless population. Like many other cities, Reno has found itself with a "tent city" — an encampment of people who had nowhere else to go.

From Seattle to Athens, Ga., homeless advocacy groups and city agencies are reporting the most visible rise in homeless encampments in a generation.

Nearly 61 percent of local and state homeless coalitions say they've experienced a rise in homelessness since the foreclosure crisis began in 2007, according to a report by the National Coalition for the Homeless. The group says the problem has worsened since the report's release in April, with foreclosures mounting, gas and food prices rising and the job market tightening.

"It's clear that poverty and homelessness have increased," said Michael Stoops, acting executive director of the coalition. "The economy is in chaos, we're in an unofficial recession and Americans are worried, from the homeless to the middle class, about their future."

Caught by surprise The phenomenon of encampments has caught advocacy groups somewhat by surprise, largely because of how quickly they have sprung up.

"What you're seeing is encampments that I haven't seen since the 80s," said Paul Boden, executive director of the Western Regional Advocacy Project, an umbrella group for homeless advocacy organizations in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland, Calif., Portland, Ore. and Seattle.

The relatively tony city of Santa Barbara has given over a parking lot to people who sleep in cars and vans.
The city of Fresno, Calif., is trying to manage several proliferating tent cities, including an encampment where people have made shelters out of scrap wood.

In Portland, Ore., and Seattle, homeless advocacy groups have paired with nonprofits or faith-based groups to manage tent cities as outdoor shelters.
Other cities where tent cities have either appeared or expanded include include Chattanooga, Tenn., San Diego, and Columbus, Ohio.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development recently reported a 12 percent drop in homelessness nationally in two years, from about 754,000 in January 2005 to 666,000 ( THE DEVILS NUMBER) in January 2007. But the 2007 numbers omitted people who previously had been considered homeless — such as those staying with relatives or friends or living in campgrounds or motel rooms for more than a week.

In addition, the housing and economic crisis began soon after HUD's most recent data was compiled.
"The data predates the housing crisis," said Brian Sullivan, a spokesman for HUD. "From the headlines, it might appear that the report is about yesterday. How is the housing situation affecting homelessness? That's a great question. We're still trying to get to that."

In Seattle, which is experiencing a building boom and an influx of affluent professionals in neighborhoods the working class once owned, homeless encampments have been springing up — in remote places to avoid police sweeps.

is adding our new First lady to its exhibit.
A wax figure of Michelle Obama will be unveiled in March, museum officials said Wednesday. Upon completion, the statue will be placed next to President Obama’s likeness in a replica of the Oval Office.
Senior Sculptor Colin Jackson is presently working on a clay head mold of Mrs. Obama at Merlin Studios in London. The clay molds are just one step in the up to six month-long figure creation process. The cost of the wax figure will be roughly $150,000. I love this amazing idea and wouldn't have it any other way, I just wonder what the diva..Mrs. Michelle Obama will be wearing and will they change her outfits for the different seasons....lol.

THE KING'S DREAM !!!!!

Martin Luther King, Jr. (January 15, 1929 – April 4, 1968) was an African American clergyman, activist and prominent leader in the American civil rights movement. His main legacy was to secure progress on civil rights in the United States and he is frequently referenced as a human rights icon today.
A Baptist minister, King became a civil rights activist early in his career. He led the 1955 Montgomery Bus Boycott and helped found the Southern Christian Leadership Conference in 1957, serving as its first president.

King's efforts led to the 1963 March on Washington, where King delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech. There, he raised public consciousness of the civil rights movement and established himself as one of the greatest orators in U.S. history.
In 1964, King became the youngest person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize for his work to end racial segregation and racial discrimination through civil disobedience and other non-violent means. By the time of his death in 1968, he had refocused his efforts on ending poverty and opposing the Vietnam War, both from a religious perspective.

King was assassinated on April 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee. He was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1977 and Congressional Gold Medal in 2004; Martin Luther King, Jr. Day was established as a U.S. national holiday in 1986.

THE PRESIDENT'S LAST CABINET MEETING

The President:I want to thank an extraordinary group of American citizens who have served our country as members of my Cabinet. Everybody around this table here could have taken the easy road and stayed home and worried about their own comforts, but instead they answered the call to service. And the country is lucky to have folks like this step up and serve.

I have thanked them here at my last Cabinet meeting not only for their service, but for helping President-Elect Obama transition. And we wish the President-elect and his team all the very best. It is our genuine wish that they do well.
We also reviewed our record, and this administration has had a good, solid record. I'm very proud of it. I tell people I leave town with a great sense of accomplishment and my head held high. We reformed education and test scores for minority students are up. We reformed Medicare -- seniors have now got prescription drug coverage. We lowered taxes for everybody who pays taxes. We transformed our military to make it be able to deal more effectively with the threats of the 21st century. And the Secretary transformed the State Department so it can deal with the threats of the 21st century, as well.

We changed how we deliver aid around the world through the Millennium Challenge Account. I put good judges on the bench. Drug use for teenagers is down in America by about 25 percent. The air is cleaner, the water is purer. The armies of compassion are more invigorated than ever before. Free trade agreements have been signed.
We dealt with an economic meltdown with strong action so that our successor has a better chance of dealing with the economic fallout from the credit crisis.
Most of all, we protected this country from harm. And we did so by providing tools for our professionals, as well as asking our military to do hard work, which they have done time and time again. Concurrent with that, we promoted the freedom agenda -- 50 million people are now free in Afghanistan and Iraq because of action taken by the United States and our coalition.

But when I talk about the freedom agenda I talk about more than just freedom from tyranny. I talk about freedom from hunger, and we've had a substantial aid program to help people who are hungry; and freedom from disease. I'm very proud of the efforts out of the State Department to -- like PEPFAR, which is the AIDS initiative on the continent of Africa, as well as our Malaria Initiative.

All in all, this administration has relied upon the great compassion of the American people, the sacrifice of those who wear the uniform. And so we leave town honored to have served. I'm proud of the job that we've done.

In more details of Ann Coulter's controversial next book, Guilty: Liberal "Victims" and Their Assault on America are out revealing how Coulter slams Michelle Obama for her style while applauding that of Cindy McCain.

The Daily News reports:
Coulter wrote, "Her obvious imitation of Jackie O's style - the flipped-under hair, the sleeveless A-line dresses, the short strands of fake pearls - would have been laughable if done by anyone other than a media-designated saint."
Coulter said Cindy McCain, the wife of vanquished GOP nominee John McCain, "dressed well without freakishly imitating famous First Ladies in history." Coulter facetiously and snidely refers to Michelle Obama as a "saint" and "Mother Teresa" and suggests that her public service career "advanced in lockstep with the political advancement of her husband."

OK so don't get me wrong, I'm so up to date on the whole freedom of speech in the United States is protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution and by many state constitutions and state and federal laws. Sure but what idiot would exercise that right in a book, targeted at the African American first lady, just in terms of laughing (insert stereotype) yall know that you cannot talk about a sisters weave and live to tell about it with, well not your hair....lol. Seriously what is this chicks beef with this beautiful, fashionable, highly qualified soon to be first lady?. FOR SHAME! I think she's jealous and just hating. However, I happen to like Michelle Obama. Although, I do not agree with all her fashion choices, I stand by her conservative,first lady,mother of two look, and understand her need to look appropriate at all times. But I see Michelle can get funky with it and her shoes are fab too, I cant wait to see who and what she is wearing to the upcoming inauguration ball.

PRESIDENT'S PARDON !!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, George W. Bush is planning to go out with a bang... It has been heard that among his list of presidential pardons – {released publicly yesterday} -- the 43rd President of the United States commuted the sentence of rapper/producer John Forte, who has been in prison for the past few years for transporting drugs. You might remember Forte from being associated with the fugees. Well Forte whose real name is John Edward Forte, was arrested at Newark International Airport in 2000 for possession with intent to distribute cocaine and conspiracy to distribute. Police discovered the Fugees-cohort with two briefcases filled with liquid cocaine, which they estimated were worth $1.4 million.

The price the government wants me to pay for that is fourteen years." Luckily for Forte, he will be released December 22 after serving just over seven years. According to published reports, he must serve five years of supervised probation.A native of the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, but after a chance meeting with Lauryn Hill led him to join The Fugees' Refugee Camp Crew, and there so history was made. Well , I just hope that that little hiatus gave him some wisdom to not be as volatile as in the past, it's funny that Forte and my brother Derek will both be released from prison on the same day. I hope they also release the part of the past that put them there and is not worth ever looking back on ..........Good luck to them both! they are both my brothers in Gods eyes.

November 16, 2008. Last year, MediaTakeOut.com was the first news source in the world to tell you that comedian Wanda Sykes was an open lesbian. At the time many questioned our reporting. Well ... yesterday Wanda publicly acknowledged that she's gay.Here's how the AP is reporting it:

"You know, I don't really talk about my sexual orientation. I didn't feel like I had to. I was just living my life, not necessarily in the closet, but I was living my life," Sykes told a crowd at a gay rights rally in Las Vegas on Saturday."Everybody that knows me personally they know I'm gay. But that's the way people should be able to live their lives," she said.Sykes, who is known for her feisty and blunt style, said the passage of California's Proposition 8 made her feel like she was "attacked.""Now, I gotta get in their face," she said. "I'm proud to be a woman. I'm proud to be a black woman, and I'm proud to be gay."

If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time, who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.

It's the answer told by lines that stretched around schools and churches in numbers this nation has never seen, by people who waited three hours and four hours, many for the first time in their lives, because they believed that this time must be different, that their voices could be that difference.

It's the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled. Americans who sent a message to the world that we have never been just a collection of individuals or a collection of red states and blue states.

We are, and always will be, the United States of America.
It's the answer that led those who've been told for so long by so many to be cynical and fearful and doubtful about what we can achieve to put their hands on the arc of history and bend it once more toward the hope of a better day.

It's been a long time coming, but tonight, because of what we did on this date in this election at this defining moment change has come to America.
A little bit earlier this evening, I received an extraordinarily gracious call from Senator McCain.

Senator McCain fought long and hard in this campaign. And he's fought even longer and harder for the country that he loves. He has endured sacrifices for America that most of us cannot begin to imagine. We are better off for the service rendered by this brave and selfless leader.

I congratulate him; I congratulate Governor Palin for all that they've achieved. And I look forward to working with them to renew this nation's promise in the months ahead.

I want to thank my partner in this journey, a man who campaigned from his heart, and spoke for the men and women he grew up with on the streets of Scranton ... and rode with on the train home to Delaware, the vice president-elect of the United States, Joe Biden.

I was never the likeliest candidate for this office. We didn't start with much money or many endorsements. Our campaign was not hatched in the halls of Washington. It began in the backyards of Des Moines and the living rooms of Concord and the front porches of Charleston. It was built by working men and women who dug into what little savings they had to give $5 and $10 and $20 to the cause.

It grew strength from the young people who rejected the myth of their generation's apathy ... who left their homes and their families for jobs that offered little pay and less sleep.
It drew strength from the not-so-young people who braved the bitter cold and scorching heat to knock on doors of perfect strangers, and from the millions of Americans who volunteered and organized and proved that more than two centuries later a government of the people, by the people, and for the people has not perished from the Earth.
This is your victory.

And I know you didn't do this just to win an election. And I know you didn't do it for me.
You did it because you understand the enormity of the task that lies ahead. For even as we celebrate tonight, we know the challenges that tomorrow will bring are the greatest of our lifetime — two wars, a planet in peril, the worst financial crisis in a century.
Even as we stand here tonight, we know there are brave Americans waking up in the deserts of Iraq and the mountains of Afghanistan to risk their lives for us.
There are mothers and fathers who will lie awake after the children fall asleep and wonder how they'll make the mortgage or pay their doctors' bills or save enough for their child's college education.

There's new energy to harness, new jobs to be created, new schools to build, and threats to meet, alliances to repair.
The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year or even in one term. But, America, I have never been more hopeful than I am tonight that we will get there.

There will be setbacks and false starts. There are many who won't agree with every decision or policy I make as president. And we know the government can't solve every problem.

And, above all, I will ask you to join in the work of remaking this nation, the only way it's been done in America for 221 years — block by block, brick by brick, calloused hand by calloused hand.

What began 21 months ago in the depths of winter cannot end on this autumn night.
This victory alone is not the change we seek. It is only the chance for us to make that change. And that cannot happen if we go back to the way things were.

It can't happen without you, without a new spirit of service, a new spirit of sacrifice.
So let us summon a new spirit of patriotism, of responsibility, where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves but each other.
Let us remember that, if this financial crisis taught us anything, it's that we cannot have a thriving Wall Street while Main Street suffers.

In this country, we rise or fall as one nation, as one people. Let's resist the temptation to fall back on the same partisanship and pettiness and immaturity that has poisoned our politics for so long.

Let's remember that it was a man from this state who first carried the banner of the Republican Party to the White House, a party founded on the values of self-reliance and individual liberty and national unity.

Those are values that we all share. And while the Democratic Party has won a great victory tonight, we do so with a measure of humility and determination to heal the divides that have held back our progress.

As Lincoln said to a nation far more divided than ours, we are not enemies but friends. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection.
And to those Americans whose support I have yet to earn, I may not have won your vote tonight, but I hear your voices.

Our union can be perfected. What we've already achieved gives us hope for what we can and must achieve tomorrow.

This election had many firsts and many stories that will be told for generations. But one that's on my mind tonight's about a woman who cast her ballot in Atlanta. She's a lot like the millions of others who stood in line to make their voice heard in this election except for one thing: Ann Nixon Cooper is 106 years old.

She was born just a generation past slavery; a time when there were no cars on the road or planes in the sky; when someone like her couldn't vote for two reasons — because she was a woman and because of the color of her skin.

And tonight, I think about all that she's seen throughout her century in America — the heartache and the hope; the struggle and the progress; the times we were told that we can't, and the people who pressed on with that American creed: Yes we can.
At a time when women's voices were silenced and their hopes dismissed, she lived to see them stand up and speak out and reach for the ballot. Yes we can.

When there was despair in the dust bowl and depression across the land, she saw a nation conquer fear itself with a New Deal, new jobs, a new sense of common purpose. Yes we can.

When the bombs fell on our harbor and tyranny threatened the world, she was there to witness a generation rise to greatness and a democracy was saved. Yes we can.

She was there for the buses in Montgomery, the hoses in Birmingham, a bridge in Selma, and a preacher from Atlanta who told a people that We Shall Overcome. Yes we can.

A man touched down on the moon, a wall came down in Berlin, a world was connected by our own science and imagination.

And this year, in this election, she touched her finger to a screen, and cast her vote, because after 106 years in America, through the best of times and the darkest of hours, she knows how America can change.
Yes we can.

America, we have come so far. We have seen so much. But there is so much more to do. So tonight, let us ask ourselves — if our children should live to see the next century; if my daughters should be so lucky to live as long as Ann Nixon Cooper, what change will they see?
